Polka Dot Cafe'

The Polka Dot Cafe'

International and Thai—a pretty successful combination in our city, you must admit. You can’t help but be reminded of Greyhound Café, though with fewer dishes, a more personal exe- cution and slightly fancier ingredients. They do a smoked duck breast salad with rocket leaves, avocado and oranges, for instance, as well as a Hokkaido scallop carpaccio. The Thai fusion shines brightest in the pasta dishes, such as the spaghetti tom yam with scallop and mushroom. They also do an all-day brunch, featur- ing buttermilk pancakes with berries and bananas or poached eggs with asparagus and smoked salmon. They recently extended opening hours to include lunch, with Thai sets to follow soon.

The drink   A decent list of signature cocktails, all B200, which includes fruity mojitos (fresh raspberries in one of them) and the Champagne punch, involving prosecco, white rum, pear juice and lime juice. They also do a pret- ty nice wine list with red, white and sparkling by the glass and the bottle.

The crown   Because the evenings see Pichy’s DJ friends spinning in this cozy place, the nighttime crowd can often be young, hip and music-loving. There is also a government office nearby, so daytime sees lunching workers as well.
