Lenka

          There once was a little girl. She was born in the bush. Her parents called her Lenka. Her first friends were trees. Her father played the trumpet, she sang with him when she was 6. She grew up a bit. They moved to the big city (Sydney). She went to school. She danced a bit. She acted a bit. She went to art college. She started to sing a bit more… She joined a band called Decoder Ring. They created an album called Somersault, which was the soundtrack to a feature film of same name. It won lots of awards. She got called things like an "ethereal songstress" a "pocket rocket" and "breathy, strangely haunting." (Rolling Stone Australia) She flew on a plane and landed in Los Angeles. She hid away in studios and emerged with new songs. She released her debut solo album in September and made a video where she got to fly thru the air like Peter Pan. People liked her songs and used them in lots of TV shows and films, like Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy. She was named VH1's "You Oughta Know Artist", iTunes Single Of The Week, and people began to write about her in magazines and newspapers. Blender Magazine called her quirky and hot, Marie Claire compared her to a fresh coat of fuchsia paint and called her surprisingly cool. But hot or cool... all of the people who have come to find Lenka have discovered that she is still really that girl singing to the trees.

Olivia Ong

        Olivia Ong is a Chinese Singaporean singer. She sings mostly in English but developed her career singing in English and, later, Japanese. In addition, she has also released rare tracks, recorded in Mandarin Chinese, which can be found on limited edition albums. Likened to Seiko Matsuda, she won a singing contest and was signed to a  Japanese recording company S2S Pte Ltd at only 15.

            Olivia, along with 2 other Singaporean girls formed the Japanese pop group, Mirai.Their first single, Open Up Your Mind, was one of the theme songs in the Japanese anime Gensoumaden Saiyuki. After taking her O-level examinations in Singapore, Olivia moved to Japan to further her studies as well as her career as a solo artist. In Singapore, she became a member of a Japanese pop (J-pop) group called Mirai, before she released her bestselling début, A Girl Meets Bossa Nova at only 19. With her sultry, soulful, pristine and innocent vocals, she reinterprets Frank Sinatra's hits such as "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars", among other jazz and pop numbers. She is one of the new wave of Singaporean talent being exported internationally. So far, Olivia is the only pop sensation exported exclusively to Japan; previous stars such as Mavis Hee, Kit Chan, Tanya Chua, Joi Chua, Stefanie Sun, Michelle Saram etc., have only been exporting to the Greater Chinese market.

          In 2009 Olivia was signed on to Taiwanese record company HIM Music and became a big hit back home in Singapore after she sang the theme song of the drama serial, "The Little Nyonya". She had stated that her paternal grandfather is Peranakan. Her first record under HIM Music was released on 5 March 2010, entitled Olivia.

Kate Nash

   

          
          Nash was born on 6 July 1987 in Brent, London, England, and grew up amidst Brit pop culture. Nash became interested in music as a child and learned how to play the piano at Sandbach School. She was taught guitar by teacher Saskia van Berkel. She auditioned at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School but was rejected after falling down a flight of stairs, breaking her foot. During her recovery she was housebound and unable to move, so her mother bought her an electric guitar. Nash used this time to focus on her songwriting: she began to write some new songs.

         After several gigs, she uploaded her music to MySpace. She found a manager for herself before seeking producers for her music. Nash's debut was a single, "Caroline's a Victim" / "Birds". Due to demand another 1000 copies were made and sold out.

          In April 2007, Nash's second single and first through Fiction Records, "Foundations", which she co-wrote with producer Paul Epworth, was released on 18 June 2007 and reached number two in the official UK Singles Chart. The album was leaked to file sharing networks days before its commercial release, and received mixed reviews, with The Independent ‘describing it as being in "pole position for worst album of the year." The album, however, was commercially successful and reached number 1 in the UK album charts.

Throughout late 2007 and early 2008, she released three more singles from the album. "Mouthwash" and "Pumpkin Soup" both made the Top 40 in the UK Singles Chart.
